Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is set to become a free agent after spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2024 season.
What would his next contract be worth if he remained in the NFL for another season?
Analysts at Spotrac have projected that the fair market value of Hopkins’ next contract will be $15,193,354 for a one-year deal. Based on Spotrac’s projection, he is expected to see a healthy raise in pay from his current average earnings of $13,000,000 per year.
Hopkins, who is a 12-year veteran, gained valuable playoff experience with Kansas City this season and recorded a touchdown reception in the Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
While he did not earn his first Super Bowl ring during his tenure in Kansas City, Hopkins is sure to find a role somewhere in the NFL next season.
It is still unclear if Hopkins will sign a contract extension with the Chiefs. Star wideout Rashee Rice is expected to return from injured reserve in 2025, and standout speedster Xavier Worthy proved to be a promising prospect throughout Kansas City’s latest campaign.
The Chiefs have a deep receiving corps and Hopkins may be too expensive for Kansas City to keep around.
