The Kansas City Chiefs have become masters of winning close games. In Week 16, they added to an impressive streak of victories in contests decided by one score by defeating the Houston Texans.
According to the experts at Pro Football Network:
“The Chiefs have won 16 consecutive one-score games. For perspective, five teams don’t even have 16 one-score wins in the entire decade.”
Had Houston managed to score a touchdown and successfully executed a two-point conversion on its final drive, the Texans would have tied Kansas City late in the game and sent the Week 16 matchup to overtime.
As the AFC playoff picture continues to take shape, the Chiefs’ victory over Houston moved Kansas City one step closer to clinching the all-important No. 1 seed that would give them a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
While Kansas City’s fans would certainly prefer that the Chiefs win games by more significant margins, they can rest assured knowing that the defending Super Bowl champions can wrestle victory from the jaws of defeat seemingly against all odds.
