Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has become one of the NFL’s most successful coaches during his 25 years in the league and may soon get a chance for promotion.
According to two separate reports this week, the Chiefs have received requests from the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders to interview Spagnuolo for their head coach vacancies, which could leave Kansas City in need of a new defensive mastermind.
The report of the Jets’ interest in Spagnuolo came from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, who announced it mere minutes before his colleague Ian Rapoport announced the Raiders’ request for an interview.

Spagnuolo has been a key asset for the Chiefs as Kansas City’s budding dynasty has taken shape, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he is being considered as a top head coaching candidate.
Las Vegas and New York cannot officially talk to Spagnuolo until the Chiefs accept their request, and Spagnuolo’s departure from Kansas City isn’t guaranteed, even if the team decides to let him interview.
