After defeating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game, the Kansas City Chiefs earned another trip to the Super Bowl on Sunday. The team’s veteran stars came through in the clutch, while young players made names for themselves on the national stage.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Monday for his weekly Zoom press conference. He shared his thoughts on rookie Xavier Worthy’s impact on the postseason and the second half of the season, which made him a trusted option in the offense.
“I was actually talking to his mom about that after the game. The kid (Worthy), every week, has just gotten better and better and better. And he’s really put together a nice half of the season, the second half, here.” said Reid. “Not that he didn’t have good plays in the first half. But you could see he was learning in the first half, and the quarterback was kind of learning where he was going to be and how he was going to get there against all these different coverages that teams throw at you.”
Worthy has tallied 11 catches for 130 yards with a touchdown in the two Chiefs postseason games. He finished the 2024 regular season with 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 104 yards on 20 carries with three touchdowns.

The former Texas Longhorns star had one of the game’s most significant moments, with his gritty reception ripping a potential interception away from the Bills defender. The disputed call was upheld after a replay review and is viewed as a crucial moment-changing play.
