Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy secured a big catch before his first training camp.
Worthy proposed to his girlfriend, United States track and field star Tia Jones, this week, and he did it in style, popping the question on the beach.
In a video released by the pair on Instagram, Worthy can be seen leading Jones down toward the ocean, where an elaborate setup featuring countless red roses had been erected.
Worthy also utilized a gigantic heart made out of red roses with a candlelit message spelling out “Marry Me” before getting on his knee with a diamond ring.
Fans, friends and teammates have been sending their well-wishes to the happy couple, including Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
Worthy, who starred at UT, was the Chiefs’ first-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. He is expected to add an element of speed to an already dangerous offense from day one.
Jones, meanwhile, was an Olympic hopeful in the 100m hurdles this summer, but did not qualify for Paris at the U.S. Track and Field trials.
A two-time gold medalist at the Under-20 World Championships, she and Worthy did celebrate another recent milestone though when they became homeowners.
“We are home owners 🏡🔑Super blessed to be able to experience buying a home with the person you love!! Nothing more important than family and building a foundation!” Jones wrote on Instagram.
Congratulations to Xavier and Tia!
