All week, the talk about the Chiefs centered on rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy’s breakout — and he followed up the noise with the game’s opening score. As you can see on this play, once Worthy has even a little space, he can make you pay. Here, the bill was for six points.
Mahomes magic reappears.
The best part of the play. Mahomes lofted it high enough to get over the defender and long enough for Perine to recover. https://t.co/ItXDI7mjYP

On third-and-long, the Chiefs needed quarterback Patrick Mahomes to make a play — So he flicked the ball to running back Samaje Perine for a first down. Notice that when Mahomes releases the ball, Perine is face down on the ground. The flip rainbows over the defender and gives Perine enough time to recover.

Mahomes hit wide receiver Justin Watson for 49 yards to set Kansas City up in scoring position. On third down, the quarterback made a precise pass right back to Watson to extend the team’s lead.
Justin Reid saves six.

After a holding call erased Pittsburgh’s touchdown, Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson made a bad decision and forced the ball into the end zone, where safety Justin Reid was waiting to make the play.

The Chiefs began the third quarter with a field goal, and they were methodical on their next drive. Mahomes hit several pass-catchers as he worked his way down the field, never seeing a third down. At the goal line, running back Kareem Hunt did the rest.
The record-breaker — and the dunk.

Tight end Travis Kelce’s touchdown catch marked the 77th of his career. He now stands alone (ahead of Tony Gonzalez) for most touchdown receptions in team history. Kelce paid tribute to Gonzalez by dunking the ball over the goal post.
