The Kansas City Chiefs clinched the top seed in the AFC with their 29-10 Christmas Day victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17. The gritty team win will make the regular season finale against the Denver Broncos meaningless standings-wise, as now the team can entirely focus on the postseason, starting in the divisional round.
Patrick Mahomes was calmly handling the Steelers’ pass rush throughout the game, connecting with multiple receivers, including an opening touchdown pass to Justin Watson to set the tone. Xavier Worthy played well for the third consecutive week, reaching the end zone, while Travis Kelce broke more records in another productive outing.
Defensively, Justin Reid’s interception halted a promising Pittsburgh drive to start the game while Mike Danna twice was able to take down quarterback Russell Wilson for sacks. Tershawn Wharton, George Karlaftis, and Felix Anudike-Uzomah also collected sacks, making up for the absence of Chris Jones due to injury.
