Some notes
- Kansas City’s injury report was the same all week, with wide receiver Mecole Hardman (knee) as the team’s only limited participant. On Thursday, the Chiefs officially listed Hardman as doubtful for the game.
- Hardman remains on the Reserve/Injured list, as does cornerback Jaylen Watson (ankle). Watson is officially questionable for the game, but head coach Andy Reid provided some optimism with his comments.
- Reid: “Well, he’s worked tremendously hard to get himself to this point — first of all — and we’ll just see how that goes as far as the game reps and all that. He sure has worked hard to get himself even to this point right here.”
- To play, Watson would first need to be activated to the 53-man roster, which must happen by 3 p.m. Arrowhead Time on Friday.
- Quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle), defensive tackle Chris Jones (calf), left tackle D.J. Humphries and defensive back Chamarri Conner (shoulder) are all good to go for the game.
- The Texans listed four players as questionable: linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee), wide receiver Robert Woods (hip), running back Joe Mixon (ankle) and tight end Teagan Quitoriano (calf).
- Al-Shaair was limited on Wednesday and Thursday after missing practice on Tuesday. A key player for Houston, Al-Shaair missed the Week 16 game against Kansas City as he served a three-game suspension for an illegal hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
- Mixon is worth watching, as he was a mid-week addition to the injury report. He did not practice on Friday.
- Earlier in the week, right guard Shaq Mason (knee) was not expected to play, but after splitting reps with backup Juice Scruggs (ankle) all week, both are good to go for the game. Mason has not played in a game since Week 16, the Texans’ last game against the Chiefs.
