Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justin Watson exited Wednesday’s practice with a foot injury.
Fox4 Kansas City’s PJ Green posted footage of the play where Watson got hurt. After bending down to catch a pass from Patrick Mahomes, his left foot appeared to twist awkwardly.
Watson was carted off the field after team doctors checked on him. Green confirmed that he’s dealing with a foot injury, but there’s no further information about the severity as of Wednesday afternoon.

Amid a tumultuous 2023 season for Kansas City’s wide receivers, Watson saw the most opportunities of his six-year career. The 2018 fifth-round pick secured personal highs in targets (53), catches (27), receiving yards (460), and touchdowns (three) while producing 21 first downs.
Watson, who previously won a Super Bowl on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has added two more championship rings in as many seasons in Kansas City. He tallied 54 yards in February’s Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
The Chiefs have since bolstered their receiving room by signing Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and drafting Xavier Worthy in the first round. Yet they could begin the season without their top wideout, as Rashee Rice likely faces a suspension for an offseason hit-and-run incident.
Only Rice and Travis Kelce registered more receiving yards than Watson for Kansas City last season, so the 29-year-old has carved out a meaningful role on the back-to-back champions.
