The Kansas City Chiefs may soon have a reason to relocate to the Sunflower State after Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed a controversial bill on Friday.
The legislation, which was swiftly passed by both chambers of the Kansas legislature earlier this week, aims to provide a means to fund stadiums for sports teams through the use of STAR bonds.
Governor Kelly was said to have supported the bill since its inception. Now, Kansas is uniquely positioned to lure the Chiefs and Royals across State Line Road if Jackson County, Missouri can’t agree with the teams on a long-term solution for their stadiums.
Friday’s action was a hot topic for debate on Twitter as fans on both sides of the border voiced their opinions about what might lay in store for Kansas City’s beloved teams.
