The Wildcats are in Morgantown to take on the Mountaineers as but teams look to stay in the Big 12 race.
Finally, a road conference road game at a “normal” time.
Tonight, your Kansas State Wildcats are in Morgantown to to face a West Virginia squad that has had a bit of a weird season. The Mountaineers are 3-3, but all three losses are to teams that are, as of the start of this game, still undefeated on the season. They are 2-1 in Big 12 play, but with wins over Kansas and Oklahoma State.
Not that K-State’s season hasn’t been odd, though at least the Cats, 5-1 overall and 2-1 in Big 12 play, have won games against teams with winning records, including a win last week in Boulder that is looking better after Colorado’s win over Arizona today.
But at 2-1 in conference play, both squads are actually still alive for a spot in the Big 12 title game. WVU might not be a favorite, and fans might be fed up with Neal Brown, but they aren’t dead yet. And a win over K-State would be a huge resume boost, as well as giving Brown a marquee win to cool his seat.
For K-State, the Wildcats just need to keep doing their thing. A win over WVU isn’t as big as a loss would be bad, but K-State can’t afford to be losing to teams it should beat.
The Cats and Mountaineers didn’t play last year, but the Cats are on a two-game win streak including a 48-31 win in Morgantown in 2022. Time for the Cats to keep that streak alive.
