The Wildcats will look to shake off their first loss of the season as they face the Delta Devils.
Well, if last time out was a measuring stick game, then these Wildcats have a long way to go. Kansas State came out flat, played flat, and lost to visitors LSU last Thursday evening. It was a stark contrast to the women’s game that preceded it in Bramlage, as the MittieCats destroyed a good Creighton squad.
So now your 2-1 TangCats are back in action, hoping to get right before a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Paradise Jam. Their punching bag opponent tonight is the squad from Mississippi Valley State, and the Delta Devils enter tonight’s contest at 1-3 on the season.
But make no mistake, MVSU is the worst D1 team in the nation. And that’s without exaggeration. They are rated at the bottom of every major ratings outlet, 364th of 364 teams. They’re “best loss” was the season opener at Iowa State, when the lost 83-44. Their win, the following game, was a 66-49 affair over a DIII school. They lost 111-39 to Missouri. Yes, seventy two points. Woof. Seriously, Fort Hays State is a tougher opponent than these guys.
The Cats are a huge favorite tonight, with the betting line near 40 points. Hopefully the Cats can actually play to their potential and one-up Iowa State. But it’s more likely that the team that’s 0-3 versus the spread continues to show up, and this is a lackluster win against a bad opponent.
Anything less than a complete beating…and, well, we may need to start having some tougher conversations.
