The Wildcats are in Lawrence. Just pray it ends quickly.
If you were coming here expecting to see a purple-colored preview of today’s game, prepare to be disappointed.
Your Kansas State Wildcats are in the midst of a four-game losing streak, and have won just one (surprising) game in the last eight games. And that’s not expected to change today, as the Cats are in Lawrence, the place of perpetual woes for the men’s basketball team.
KU, like always under Bill Self, is very good, and despite a recent set-back against Top 5 Iowa State in Ames earlier this week, are still a Top 15 team and still in the running for yet another Big 12 title. According to the NET rankings, this will be KU’s easiest game since they played Brown (NET 200), a team they beat 87-53 in AFH back in December. A better comp might be Furman, as the Paladins are currently 112 in the NET (20 spots higher than K-State), and the Squawks dispatched that purple team 86-51 to end November. Add in K-State’s very very poor history, even with actually good teams, in Lawrence, and, well, it’s just not a recipe for a good day for the Wildcats.
Watch if you dare, but don’t expect to enjoy any part of this. KU is a 14-point favorite, and it would be a minor miracle if the Cats even covered, let alone made a game of this.
We’ve got a Noon CT tipoff for the game today at Allen Fieldhouse, and you can catch the action on CBS with Brad Nessler (play-by-play) and Bill Raftery (analyst) on the call.
If you can’t get to CBS in some fashion, the game can be heard across portions of the 28-station K-State Sports Network with Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play) and Stan Weber (analyst) calling the action. The game will also be available online at K-Statesports.com and via the Varsity Network app, as well as on satellite radio on SiriusXM Ch. 385. Live stats are also available at k-statesports.com, and social media updates (@KStateMBB) will also be a part of the coverage.
Go Cats!
