Can the Wildcats make it two straight in this homestand, or will the visiting Cowboys play spoiler?
Spirits are certainly a lot higher in Wildcatland than they were this time last week, as your Kansas State Wildcats finally picked up their first win of 2025, and their second conference win this season. In doing so, they broke a 6-game losing streak that was pushing the patience of even the most ardent Wilcdat, and Jerome Tang, supporters
Now the question is, can they keep it going?
The Wildcats (8-11, 2-6 Big 12) have a great opportunity to stay on the winning track against equally terrible Oklahoma State (10-9, 2-6 Big 12). Of course, these two teams have already played once this year, and it didn’t go very well for the Wildcats, who fell 79-66 to the Pokes in Stillwater twenty-two days ago. It was a game that should have been closer. It was a game that K-State probably should have won. But it was an embarrassing loss anyway.
Now the Wildcats have the opportunity for redemption. They have the opportunity to show that Saturday’s win over West Virginia wasn’t a fluke. They have the opportunity to show that they are making progress, that they are becoming a better team here in the heart of the season.
There are 12 games left. And many are winnable, including tonight. If the Cats could win eight of those twelve — a feat that is reasonably accomplishable with the remaining schedule — a postseason trip (NIT) might not even be out of the question. But that starts tonight. Have the Wildcats really turned the corner, or was this a one-off of a team tired of losing?
We shall see.
