The MittieCats will look to stay perfect against the Jayhawks in 2025.
It’s been nearly a week since your Kansas State Wildcats last played, and uninspiring effort on the road in Morgantown that saw that Cats drop their fourth game of the season and the third in Big 12 play. That loss also dropped the Cats (24-4, 12-3) out of first place in the Big 12, and the Cats currently sit a game back of TCU and Baylor with just a few games left in the regular season.
The Cats do still have some control of their destiny, but need to win out to give themselves a shot at the Big 12 crown. That starts today, as the Kansas Jayhawks visit Bramlage for game two of the 2025 women’s basketball version of the Sunflower Showdown. The school down the river is just 15-11 on the season, and 5-10 in Big 12 play. One of those ten losses was to the Wildcats in Lawrence to open February, a 91-64 K-State win. KU opened hot and kept things close through the end of the first period, but the Cats quickly turned on the jets to put it away.
And while the Cats might still be reeling a bit from the loss to West Virginia last Monday, they get to bounce back with a return to the friendly doomy confines of Bramlage. Oh, and Ayoka Lee is expected to make her return after sitting out for the past month with a foot injury. The Cats have played mostly well in her absence — though all three Big 12 losses have come with the All-American sidelined — but it will be a huge boost to have her back, even in limited minutes.
The Wildcats are a big favorite today. Bramlage will be full and rocking. Time to extend the winning streak in Manhattan to 17 games, and pick up the sweep against the Squawks.
We’ve got a 4:00pm CT tipoff for the game this afternoon from Bramlage Coliseum, and you can catch the action on ESPN+ with Ben Boyle (play-by-play), Missy Heidrick (analyst), and Sophie Smith (sideline) on the call.
If you can’t access the stream, the game can be heard across portions of the 28-station K-State Sports Network with Matt Walters (play-by-play) and Kristin Waller (analyst) calling the action. The game will also be available online at K-Statesports.com and via the Varsity Network app. Live stats are also available at k-statesports.com, and social media updates (@KStateWBB) will also be a part of the coverage.
Go Cats!
