The MittieCats are in Ames for their regular season finale, the TangCats welcome in the Buffs for an irrelevant game.
It may not have been the season hoped for by the Kansas State Wildcats, but there’s still plenty to play for. At 25-5 overall and 13-4 Big 12, the MittieCats are still in position for a double-bye in the Big 12 tournament, as well as the potential to host the NCAA Tournament’s first round games.
But they have to win today.
Iowa State is also not having the season they hoped for. The Cyclones are still in good position for the postseason at 20-10 overall and 11-6 in Big 12, but they had much higher hopes after a deep posteason run last year and the run of several key starters.
K-State will again be without the services of Ayoka Lee. But it didn’t matter in the first meeting, as the Cats held of a furious late Cyclone comeback to win 87-79 in overtime in Manhattan. It won’t be that easy on the road in a tough environment.
K-State needs to win to help build momentum for the Big 12 Tournament next week. A loss would also likely sink the chance to host NCAA games in March.
Just win. Please.

This is a meaningless game between two irrelevant teams. The TangCats (13-15, 7-10 Big 12) have lost four straight to fall out of any potential conversation for the postseason. The Buffs (11-17, 2-15 Big 12) are in last place in the Big 12.
This will be the first meeting as conference foes since Colorado ran off for the Pac 12 in 2011. Hopefully K-State can turn it on enough for today to not get embarrassed.
