Boone Morris (b. Sept. 18, 2005) is a young linebacker prospect from Mount Vernon High School in Texas who plans on majoring in kinesiology and probably will redshirt in 2024.
However, thanks to his early arrival in spring, I won’t rule out his seeing some limited playing time, especially if we sustain 2023-like injuries at the middle linebacker position.
Morris prepped under head coach Clayton George at Mount Vernon, where he was rated the 54th-best inside linebacker in the nation for the Class of 2024 by ESPN.
He was named the 2023 district defensive Most Valuable Player after he picked up second-team all-state honors as both a junior and senior. The dude was a tackling MACHINE.
Morris carded 501 tackles, 95 tackles for loss and 21 sacks for the Tigers during his prep career, including a 205-tackle campaign as a senior and an 11-sack performance as a junior.
He flipped to K-State over offers from Abilene Christian, Air Force, Arkansas State, Army, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Navy, North Texas, Pennsylvania, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas State, Tulsa, UNLV, UTSA and Vanderbilt.
Morris also drew strong interest (but no offers) from Baylor, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU and Texas Tech.
His primary K-State recruiters was his new position coach, Steve Stanard, and his secondary recruiter was defensive ends coach Buddy Wyatt. (Could a future position change be possible for Mr. Morris? We shall see…)
Morris’ older brother, Boston, plays football at Ouachita Baptist University.
