Michael Capria (b. Jan. 10, 2004) is a walk-on offensive lineman who is majoring in business administration. He redshirted and did not play in 2022 as he worked to become a reserve.
In 2023, he saw action as a reserve offensive lineman in the season opener against SEMO.
Capria prepped under head coach Chad Frigon at Liberty High School, where he garnered first-team all-state honors from the Missouri Football Coaches Association as both a junior and a senior, as well as first-team all-district and all-conference accolades both seasons.
He helped the Blue Jays to earn a combined 17-6 record over his final two seasons, including a 10-2 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals as a junior.
Capria, who is a pretty strong dude, walked on at K-State over recruiting interest from Central Arkansas, North Dakota State, South Dakota and Wyoming, according to 247Sports.
Here’s what Chris Klieman had to say about his potential during the 2022 fall camp:
…one of the strongest guys on the offensive line is Michael Capria out of Kansas City, and I couldn’t be more pleased with him for a guy who’s never played center. To see where he’s at right now, I couldn’t be more pleased.
This sentiment was echoed in fall 2023 by offensive line coach Conor Riley:
We have a walk-on who might be the strongest kid in the group, Michael Capria, who’s out of Liberty North in Kansas City, and the way he competes and battles has been very impressive. In fact, I’ve gotten him a lot of reps with the twos recently because he deserves it.
Sounds like a guy who could definitely break through this fall and run with the twos again…
