Andrew Metzger (b. Sept. 27, 2004) is a young tight end from the Denver suburb of Aurora who is equally skilled at catching in traffic, blocking, and running routes and who is majoring in business administration. He redshirted and did not play in the 2023 season.
A three-year letter-winner under head coach Danny Filleman at Regis Jesuit High School, Metzger was rated the 35th-best tight end (Y position) nationally in the Class of 2023 by ESPN, while 247Sports viewed him as the eighth-best overall prospect in Colorado.
He was named to the 2022 All-Colorado team by The Denver Post, while he was an all-state performer by CHSAANow.com and an all-conference honoree as both a junior and senior.
Metzger totaled 515 yards and eight touchdowns for the Raiders over his three-year varsity career, including a 334-yard, six-touchdown showing as a senior, and also played lacrosse.
He chose K-State over offers from Air Force, Boise State, Colorado (from which he decommitted), Duke, Eastern Michigan, Kansas, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Utah State, Washington State and Wyoming, plus interest from Iowa State.
His lead recruiter was position coach Brian Lepak, assisted by Colorado native Collin Klein.
Metzger’s father, Joe, played tight end at Ohio State from 1988 to 1992.
