The talented tight end from Goodland picks the Cats over some other big offers.
It’s officially unofficial, 5-star tight end Linkon Cure has made his verbal commitment to Kansas State, becoming the Wildcats highest-rated high school recruit in the recruiting-rankings era. Cure is currently rated as the 2nd-best recruit in the state, the consensus second-best tight end recruit nationally, and a top-30 player nationally by On3’s “industry ranking”.
The 6’6”, 220lbs athlete out of Goodland, KS chose his home-state Wildcats on Monday afternoon over offers from all over the country, and a finalist group that also included Oregon, Texas A&M, and Kansas. Cure is a multi-sport star for the Cowboys of Goodland HS, winning state titles in track & field in the 110m & 300m hurdles, as well as top marks in the 100m & 200m dash, and a 6’2 mark in the high jump. Cure also helped lead his basketball squad to the 3A state title game this past February.
Cure’s big frame, speed, and leaping ability makes him a near-home run prospect as an elite tight end. And it’s not just the measurables, he’s showcased those skills on the football field in games, as well as at camps with other top-end recruits.
Cure becomes the 12th commit for the 2025 class, and the fourth Kansan in the group. He joins Martel Jackson (DB, Derby/Derby, 6/9), Maguire Richman (LB, Overland Park/Blue Valley, 6/19), and Brock Heath (IOL, Overland Park/BV Northwest, 6/27). Heath is a highly-rated recruit in his own right, and is a top 10 player in the state.
