The Wildcats host the Vikings on a Saturday afternoon.
The Kansas State Wildcats football team may be off this weekend, but the men’s basketball team is here to keep you occupied this Saturday afternoon as they take on the Vikings of Cleveland State.
The Wildcats started out rocky, but ended up cruising to a 89-65 win over New Orleans last Tuesday to open the season at 1-0. David N’Guessan had a career game, leading all scorers with 21 points while also leading all rebounders with 15 for just his fourth career double-double. He was joined by an impressive effort from newcomer Max Jones, who scored 19 points on a blistering 4-5 from deep at 7-10 from the floor. The Wildcats showed they were capable of scoring even when their star (newcomer Coleman Hawkins) was having an off night. That’s a good sign.
Now on to game two, the Wildcats need to show they can replicate those kinds of performances. Cleveland State is about as overmatched as New Orleans was, and this should be another easy victory for the TangCats. The Vikings are 1-1 on the season, but they were absolutely pasted to open the season when they visited Ann Arbor. Hopefully K-State comes out and does the same thing this afternoon.
Keep making progress, show some consistency, get a win. Simple asks, but something the Cats struggled with last year.
We’ve got an 3:00pm CT tipoff for the game this afternoon from Bramlage Coliseum, and you can catch the action on Big 12 Now / WatchESPN with Ben Boyle (play-by-play), Stan Weber (analyst), and Sophie Smith (sideline reporter) on the call.
