The NFL has had a number of players who were on the shorter side but found plenty of success in the league. But one NFL prospect just set a record by becoming the shortest player ever measured at the Scouting Combine.
On Sunday, Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn measured in at 5-foot-5, making him the shortest player ever measured at the annual event. While there have been shorter players throughout NFL history, there haven’t been many.
But what Vaughn may have lacked in size, he more than made up with via production.
In three seasons at Kansas State, Vaughn had nearly 5,000 yards from scrimmage and 43 total touchdowns. He was a two-time All-American and a three-time All-Big 12 selection.
Kansas State RB Deuce Vaughn is the shortest player (5’ 5”) ever measured at the Combine since official data has been tracked in 2003. 🧨@KStateFB @C_Vaughn22 #NFLCombine2023

Plenty of NFL players have thrived without being the biggest guy on either side of the ball of course. Darren Sproles, Bob Sanders, Maurice Jones-Drew and Hall of Famer Barry Sanders all played at extremely high levels while playing at 5-foot-8 or shorter.
If Deuce Vaughn has the skills, he’ll have no problem finding an NFL team willing to give him a shot. And with his abilities in both the run game and passing game, he’ll probably hear his name called in the NFL Draft.
Where do you think Vaughn will play in 2023?
