The Dallas Cowboys’ front office has been loving every moment of the 2023 NFL Draft. But one particular draft call was particularly special to one of the team’s top scouts.
With the 212th pick in the NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected running back Deuce Vaughn from Kansas State. As it happens, Vaugh’s father Chris Vaughn serves as the Cowboys’ assistant director of college scouting.
So it was Chris Vaughn who got to make the call to his son to inform him that he was being drafted by the Cowboys and working on the same team as him. What ensued was the entire Cowboys’ draft war room standing up and applauding Vaughn as he was nearly moved to tears by the emotions of making his son’s NFL dream come true.
The clip is going viral with over 15,000 views in just half an hour and plenty of fans taking to the comments to congratulate Vaughn while welcoming Deuce to the team.
As cool as it gets: Cowboys assistant director of college scouting Chris Vaughn gets to call his son, Deuce, after the Cowboys select him in the 6th round.
