Five-star recruit Linkon Cure revealed his college commitment on Monday.
In a live announcement shared by 247Sports, the No. 2 tight end from the class of 2025 said he intends on going to Kansas State next year. Cure chose the Wildcats over Kansas, Oregon, and Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-6 prospect from Goodland, Kansas, is eager to work with quarterback Avery Johnson on a team that’s won 27 games over the last three years. Kansas State’s on-field improvement isn’t the only reason why he’s staying close to home.
“It’s exciting. We got a lot of weapons, but I wouldn’t say that’s the most important thing,” Cure said during his announcement. “The most important thing in K-State is their culture … K-State has a bright future; I’m just excited to be a part of it.”
Cure elaborated on the program’s culture in an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons.
“You can’t beat it,” Cure said. “Every one of those guys that K-State has is a top-notch person. They are not just a good player, but also a top-notch person. I absolutely love that about them.”
Cure called it an “emotional” moment committing to Kansas State, the first school to make him an offer. He expressed reverence for the team’s coaching staff, including Chris Klieman.
The No. 30 overall recruit in his class called Klieman a “great guy” and touted the head coach’s leadership.
“He’s not just a guy you want to play for. He’s a guy you want to sacrifice everything for,” Cure told Simmons. “I want to go on that field and give everything I have for him.”
