There’s a new sheriff in town
For those who missed it over the weekend, there’s been a staff change here at Rock Chalk Talk. Fizzle, who took over the site after the last leadership change and quickly righted the ship, is retiring from managing the site. He’s assured us all that he’ll continue to hang around on the site and provide us all with his trademark awful food takes, so rest assured he’s not going anywhere. In his place, I’ll be taking over.
I don’t intend to make any significant changes to the site. We have a great core group of regulars here and there’s no reason to fix what isn’t broken. But as I begin my career as the RCT site manager, I just wanted to post a brief personal note.
I found this site in 2009 when Mark Mangino was fired and no one knew what was going to happen next. I was amazed by the number of comments the site had discussing football! When I first created an SB Nation account, I had no idea what this site would end up meaning to me. Coming up on just about 15 years later, I’ve spent time on this website nearly every single day since I found it. I remember nervously reaching out to Owen to ask if I could post the occasional article here, and he was more than happy to bring me aboard. Now I’ve shared 15 years of Jayhawk ups and down, as well as…whatever you want to call the random topics that unexpectedly produce a flurry of comments in the News & Notes. I consider the people I interact with at RCT to be my friends (or “internet friends” as my wife likes to say), and at the risk of sounding cheesy, it’s an honor to take over and become the site manager. It’s not a glamorous role, but I cherish the fact that I get to do it for a site that’s become a part of my life over the years.
Rock Chalk, everyone
