Kansas suffered its worst loss yet this season on Saturday against the top team in the country.
Houston started fast and never looked back in a 76-46 win over Kansas. Houston was up by 19 at the half and still outscored Kansas by 11 in the second half.
Hunter Dickinson was the only Jayhawk to score in double figures for this game (11 points). He then suffered a dislocated shoulder and will have an MRI to get his full diagnosis.
This loss dropped the Jayhawks to 22-9 overall and 10-8 in Big 12 play. They’d be the fifth seed in the conference if the Big 12 Tournament started today.
They’ve been one of the better teams in the country this season but they’re still a step below a few of the top teams, including the Cougars. The Jayhawks will need a good run in the Big 12 Tournament if they want to get a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.
On the other side, the Cougars got their 28th win and continue to be one of the favorites to win it all. Jamal Shead led all Cougars players with 13 points while Damian Dunn, LJ Cryer, and J’wan Roberts also finished in double figures.
The Cougars will be the top seed heading into the Big 12 Tournament and if they’re able to win it, they’ll be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament when it starts in less than two weeks.
The madness is almost here, but how big of a part will the Jayhawks have in it?
