This Oklahoma-Kansas gave has been absolutely wild. But as amazing as the action on the field has been, the officiating on key play was extremely questionable.
On a fourth-and-goal play for Kansas, quarterback Jason Bean made the bizarre decision to try and slide feet-first into the endzone – forgetting that the call is dead from the point that he initiates the slide. But Oklahoma safety Reggie Pearson went low the tackle and officials reviewed the play.
After the review, officials ejected Pearson for targeting and gave the Jayhawks the ball at the one-yard line. On the next play, Jayhawks running back Daniel Hishaw Jr. scored a touchdown to give them a 32-27 lead.
Fans on X have been debating the call ever since:

“Clear as day targeting,” one user replied.
“What is the defender supposed to do?” another asked.
“Good call. Why wasn’t the PI called on the 2 pt conversion???” a third mused.
“Somehow hitting the shoulder without touching the head or neck is now targeting,” a fourth pointed out.
It’s been a wild one for the last hour and more.
The game is being played on FS1.
