The 2024 Olympics are officially set to begin on Friday when the opening ceremonies take place. And as athletes from across the world walk with their respective countries, Kansas athletics will be well represented. A total of seven athletes from KU will compete in the games, with head track and field coach Stanley Redwine leading KU’s efforts on the track as well.
Five-star guard Meleek Thomas includes Kansas in his top group
Kansas basketball remains in the hunt for one of the top high school basketball players in the 2025 class. On Tuesday, five-star prospect Meleek Thomas included KU in his top seven. The Jayhawks made the cut along with Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, K-State, Pitt and UConn. Thomas is a Pittsburgh native who will play for Overtime Elite this fall.

When Zach Clemence and Bill Self agreed that the Kansas basketball forward was going to be allowed to remove his name from the transfer portal and return to the Jayhawks, there was just one stipulation: Clemence had to redshirt and sit out the 2023-24 season. As Clemence recalls, he received a challenge from the KU coach to improve every facet of his game and what he offers on the basketball court.
