Labaron Philon, the No. 3 point guard in the class of 2024, has requested his release out of his National Letter of Intent to Kansas, his coach confirms to ZAGSBLOG.
The Link Academy (MO.) product originally chose the Jayhawks over Alabama, Cincinnati and Ole Miss back in September. He initially committed to Auburn as a junior.
He had a successful year at Link, ranking top 10 in the EYBL Scholastic in assists (4.3 per game), assist-to-turnover ratio and steals (2.4). The Lions finished as semifinalists at Chipotle Nationals.
Philon has seen a potential decrease in playtime as Bill Self has hit the transfer portal hard, bringing in AJ Storr, Zeke Mayo and Riley Kugel, along with class of 2024 five-star Flory Bidunga and four-star Rakease Passmore.
