Missouri coach Dennis Gates keeps on rolling in the transfer portal, this time picking up Duke transfer forward Mark Mitchell.
Mitchell — the 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward from Sunrise Christian (KS) — announced the move via Instagram.
The forward averaged 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds last season at Duke. He’s a former McDonald’s All-American and top-10 recruit via 247Sports out of high school. Mitchell averaged 9.1 points and 4.5 rebounds as a freshman and has shot 31.9% from 3-point range in his career.
Mitchell is known for his defensive capabilities and will have two years of eligibility to utilize at Missouri.
Gates and Missouri now have two huge grabs in the transfer portal this cycle in Mitchell and former Iowa guard Tony Perkins. After a winless SEC slate this past season, Gates is making waves in recruiting. Joining Mitchell and Perkins as newcomers will be five top-150 high school prospects in the 2024 class.
Mitchell is the No. 9-ranked player in 247Sports transfer portal rankings and the No. 2-ranked player in the portal by Evan Miya.
“Coach Gates and Mizzou have a great staff have a great relationship with their players and I really believe that we can do something special,” Mitchell said to 247Sports.
