Morris Udeze, the 6-foot-8 center from Montverde (FL) Academy, committed to Wichita State on Wednesday.
Ranked the No. 17 center in the Class of 2018 per 247Sports.com, he also considered Butler and Ohio State. He has visited all of his final three.
“Great people, great coaching staff,” Udeze said. “There’s a lot of opportunity down there. I have a great relationship with the staff and players and that is why I have committed to play for them.”

Udeze is one of several Montverde seniors who has committed or will commit this year. Senior point guard Michael Devoe picked Georgia Tech on Saturday, while guards Andrew Nembhard and R.J. Barrett and bigs Kevin Zhang and Filip Petrusev are also uncommitted.
“Morris can be an impact player for Wichita State right away,” postgrad coach Kevin Boyle Jr said. “He has the ability to become a dominant offensive presence on the block. He’s a bruiser that competes for every rebound and loose ball, and for a guy with such a thick build he is a great athlete. Conditioning and perimeter defense/guarding ball screens will be key for him to thrive with Coach [Gregg] Marshall but those are things Morris understands and is working to improve.”
