The long road trip ends, and 17 straight days of Royals baseball ends.
The Royals are about to play their 17th game in 17 days. This stretch started with the Orioles weekend series, the Royals took two of three, before winning three of four against the Twins at home for a 5-2 homestand. Off to Cleveland, where they would lose two of three, then the Bronx, where the Yankees swept them and now in the Motor City, the Royals have lost the first three of a four game set to the Tigers. So overall, 6-10 over the first 16 days. 8-14 on the season and losers of six straight. They are also now dead last in runs scored per game at 2.86.
Lucky for the Royals, they get a much needed off day tomorrow before hosting the Rockies for a three-game set starting Tuesday night. The Royals finally get to go home, and they finally end their brutal schedule to start the season. If there is any reason for optimism, it’s that the schedule will get easier from here on out. This first three to four weeks stretch of the season will be the toughest stretch the Royals should have all year, considering they played a lot of playoff teams from last season.
Michael Wacha will take the bump today behind a new and different Royals lineup as the Royals try and salvage a 1-8 road trip so far.

The Tigers have carried last season’s momentum over as they lead the AL Central currently and are beating everyone in Comerica Park right now. As they say, when it rains it pours. Reigning AL Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal will start against the Royals today.
