Royals look to bounce back after a sweep in the Bronx.
The Royals enter the final series of their lengthy road trip, playing against a division rival in the Tigers for the first time this season. So far, the Royals are 1-5 on the road trip and are 8-11 on the year, putting them at third in the AL Central. Today, they open their four-game series with the Tigers and hope to come away with a .500 record before they head back to Kauffman.
Michael Lorenzen takes the mound for the Royals for the fourth time this year, and enters the game with a 3.71 ERA over 17 innings. He looks to pickup his second win of the year, and help the Royals get back on track despite a disappointing road trip.
The Tigers are coming off two losses to the Brewers where the only put up two runs in the last two games of the series. Reese Olson will get the start for Detroit to open the series, but has struggled this year as he has given up at least two run in each of his first three starts and has an ERA of 6.00.
The Royals are hoping to get in on the success against Olson and to see their offense step up after a slow start to the year. The Royals are 6-1 after in games where they score four or more runs, and are 2-10 in all other games after a brutal 3-4 loss last night. It is relatively safe to say that if the Royals bats can put it together, they are in a great position going forward, and hopefully the offense really is able to come alive today.

As far as the bullpen goes for the Royals, Angel Zerpa is likely not available after pitching back to back. It is also likely we don’t see John Schreiber or Daniel Lynch today, both of which pitched yesterday and Monday.
Drew Waters and Cavan Biggio get the start in the outfield for Kansas City, India will be the DH and Michael Massey is back at 2nd base. The Royals are hopeful they can load the back end of the lineup with lefties to help revive the offense in game one against Detroit.

Gleyber Torres will be the leadoff man for the Tigers to start the series, and the Tigers look to load their lineup with lefties as well, hoping the offense will bounce back, after only posting one run in their last 22 innings of baseball.

Hopefully the Royals will be able to get off to a hot start in the all important game one. Simply put, the Royals need the bats to come alive, and they will get their chance against Reese Olson to start the series. Lorenzen has been great to start the year and should keep them in the game, if the offense comes around, we should see a good series between the Royals and their division rival.
