Let’s go Royals!
After a long offseason wait, it’s finally time: Opening Day 2025. The Cleveland Guardians have traveled to play the Kansas City Royals at beautiful Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder, I imagine. Nobody thought they’d be good last year, and they were. Few people thought they would beat the Baltimore Orioles in the Wild Card series, and they did. And then the team thought they could have and should have beat the New York Yankees in the ALDS. But it’s a new leaf, a new year, and a new opportunity to win it all.
Recent Opening Day contests have been a bit of a mixed bag. Bobby Witt Jr. powered the Royals past the Guardians in a thrilling 2022 contest, but Kansas City lost Opening Day at Kauffman Stadium each of the last two seasons. The fanbase is primed to go wild at a sold-out Royals game for a team that is a legitimate playoff contender, and a win would be a fantastic start to the year.
