The Tigers are in first place. But hey the Royals are not in last place!
The 8-12 Kansas City Royals will look to snap a four-game losing streak tonight against the 11-8 Detroit Tigers. Their offense has sputtered pretty badly this week, and this here website has definitely let you know about it.
Who knows what it will take to break out of this. The pitching has definitely held up their end of the bargain. The whole pitching staff is 11th in fWAR, and the starters in particular are 3rd in fWAR. If the boys could just maybe start playing some ball on offense, they could go on a real heater to put some pressure on the other teams in this weaksauce division.
Tonight, Cole Ragans brings his dominance to the mound. He’s 3rd overall in pitching fWAR, 2nd in FIP, and 1st in K/9. The dude’s been on fire. So glad he’s on my favorite team.
Jackson Jobe takes the mound for the Tigers. He’s a youngun’ with only three MLB starts in his career. He managed six innings of shutout ball his last time out.
Game time is 5:40pm US Central in Detroit. You can watch on FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City. You can listen on the Royals Radio Network (96.5 the FAN for example).
Twitter is terrible and broken and images won’t load there at all for me, so you get a screenshot I took of MLB dot com’s lineup in Gameday for the Tigers lineup.
Lineups:
Cole Ragans takes the bump.
