Hunter Harvey hits the injured list.
Happy Saturday folks. I think this may be my first time putting together a Rumblings…I honestly cannot remember if I did it during my previous stint as a writer here in the mid-2010s. I apologize if I forget something important or do something wrong.
Vahe Gregorian writes about Lucas Erceg in his “fireman” role.
Pete Grathoff writes about why the Royals are keeping Jac Caglianone in AA and mentions a former Royal has an opinion.
On his “Diggin’ Deep” podcast, Hosmer said the Royals should promote Caglianone to beef up an offense that has hit just six home runs the season, tied for the fewest in Major League Baseball.
Hunter Harvey hits the injured list. Ugh. Steven Cruz called up.
The Royals on Friday afternoon placed Harvey on the 15-day IL with a strain of his right teres major muscle. The move is retroactive to Tuesday. Harvey has appeared in six games for Kansas City this season, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out seven.
Jac Caglianone breaks 120mph exit velocity (mentioned in Friday’s rumblings). This article has a video of it.
For perspective, Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz recorded the top mark of 122.4 mph on a single Aug. 24, 2022. Cruz also logged the hardest-hit ball between Triple-A and the Florida State League with a 121.7 mph single on May 12, 2022. Caglianone’s knock would be the 12th-hardest hit ball in the Statcast era.

FanGraphs’ Esteban Rivera writes about Corbin Carroll’s changed batting stance. Maybe MJ Melendez should take heed?
Song of the Day:
Bear Ghost with “Rivers Is A Vampire”
I heard these guys on my Spotify Discover playlist with a cover of “The Bells of Notre Dame” from 1996 Disney classic “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. My wife hates the cover, I love it, and I’ve been obsessed with these guys since I heard the song.
