The Royals will take on the Rockies in game one of their doubleheader
Today the Royals have their first double header of the year, as they take on the Rockies at 1:10 CT and then again this afternoon due to a late rainout for yesterdays game. The Royals won the first game of the series in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off hit from Freddy Fermin in the bottom of the 11th. Drew Waters and Kris Bubic also had likely their best performances of the season, and the Royals will look to carry that success into both games today.
In game one, Cole Ragans will take the mound, and is coming off his worst performance of the season against the Tigers. Prior to his game agains the Tigers, Ragans proved to be one of the best pitchers in baseball, with 10+ Ks in each of his first three starts, and only allowed 4 total runs. Ragans will hope to return to form today and carry the success the team found in game one into today.
The Royals will take on German Marquez, who has had some struggles this year, with an 8.27 ERA this season and has given up 15 runs in his last three starts. The Royals offense has been quiet, and today they need to take advantage of a big opportunity against a struggling pitcher in the first game today. Taking both games of a double header is a difficult task for any team regardless of opponent, but the Royals fair to have their best odds in game one.
Jonathan Bowlan will get the call as the extra pitcher, and could potentially make his first appearance of the season for Kansas City today. So far in Omaha, Bowlan has pitched 12 innings and posted a 3.00 ERA with a WHIP of 1.25. The move to the bullpen this year has been good for him and he will get a chance to show it in the bigs today.
Jonathan India sits for game one, and the Royals move Maikel Garcia into the leadoff spot, a role he held most of the 2024 season. Biggio comes in at first, and the outfield will consist of Renfroe, Waters and Isbel. Vinnie will DH for game one, and I would imagine we will see Salvy there for game two.

Brenton Doyle returns for the Rockies in center and is followed by a very similar top of the order for what we saw Tuesday.
