One of the most exciting times of the year is coming up rapidly for baseball fans – Spring Training. Even though Arizona and Florida are where games take place, Las Vegas has become home to “Big League Weekend.” This year, the Colorado Rockies, Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, and Kansas City Royals will be making their way to Sin City to play at Las Vegas Ballpark. Kris Bryant, and Joey Votto, are both big draws, and the Royals and Athletics have some must-see prospects, so for those traveling from out of town, here’s everything that you will need to know about the stadium and surrounding area for the Las Vegas Spring Training game.

Where to stay
Even though it’s about 25 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip, there are still plenty of places to stay in the area. Las Vegas Ballpark is in an area called Summerlin, one of the nicer parts of town. The stadium itself is set in the Downtown Summerlin area. This is right next to where the Vegas Golden Knights practice.
There are four different hotel options: Suncoast, Rampart, Marriott, and Red Rock. Suncoast, Rampart, and Marriott are all only about a five-minute drive. Red Rock, on the other hand, is right next door and easily walkable to the stadium. Since it’s Las Vegas, there will also be plenty of Airbnb and VRBO options to pick from. There are many neighborhoods surrounding the stadium that make this possible.
Where to park at the Las Vegas Spring Training game
The stadium offers a pay-to-park option for the Las Vegas Spring Training game, but that is not the only offer. Since the stadium is near a very vibrant area, there are options to park slightly farther away, but they’re free. One of those options is at Red Rock, the hotel mentioned above. Red Rock doubles as a casino, so they have a massive parking lot where fans can park for free. Another free option is behind Downtown Summerlin facing I-215. Both are about an extra five to 10 minutes of walking, but you can easily save some money by not paying to park if you choose to.
What to eat
If you’re coming in from out of town, Downtown Summerlin is the perfect area to be in. There are many restaurants to pick from depending on your mood and what you want. There are very nice places to eat if you want a fancy date night before the Las Vegas Spring Training game, such as Trattoria Reggiano, one of the best Italian places. You can also go to places such as Public School 702 or Frankie’s Uptown if you are in a more casual mood. Red Rock also has a lot of different dining options.
If you are staying at either Rampart, Marriott, or Suncoast, you are very close to two different areas called Boca Park and Tivoli Village. Boca Park is filled with different options including anything from Cheesecake Factory to Chick-Fil-A. Tivoli is not quite as big but has very nice restaurants as well as amazing scenery for pictures.
What to do when not watching the game
This will all depend on what you like to do. If you’re a gambler, there are many different options, even if you do not want to drive all the way to the Strip. Red Rock, Suncoast, and Rampart all are enjoyable casinos where locals play, so they will always be busy and a fun time. If you’re willing to make the drive and pay for parking, the Las Vegas Strip is about 25 minutes from the stadium as well.
If you aren’t a gambler, there’s an area called Red Rock Canyon which is about a 10-minute drive from the stadium. It has some of the most amazing hiking trails and picturesque views in Las Vegas. There are also many golf courses surrounding the area, such as Angel Park and Arroyo Golf Club. The weather in March will be perfect for a hike and being outdoors. There is truly something for anyone to do in this area while not watching the game.
