Who will it be?
The Royals will soon announce this year’s induction class for the Royals Hall of Fame. On this year’s ballot are Carlos Beltrán, Billy Butler, Johnny Damon, Wade Davis, Jarrod Dyson, Alex Gordon, Kelvin Herrera, Joakim Soria, and Yordano Ventura.
But the Royals marketing department is teasing the newest inductee with a clever video showing the Royals Hall of Fame Lounge. The “exclusive club” features George Brett, Bo Jackson, Mike Sweeney, Ned Yost, Steve Busby, Dennis Leonard, Willie Wilson, and Amos Otis in the video, enjoying their membership through games of cards and billiards. But suddenly, a mysterious new member knocks on the door.

Who could it be?
Well, iIf you pay attention to the video, you’ll notice that George Brett says “4s are wild”. And check out the billiard ball showing when Willie Wilson lines it up.

Who was famously #4? Alex Gordon.
Will we get to see Gordo inducted this summer? He certainly seems like the most likely candidate. The three-time All-Star and eight-time Gold Glove winner spent his entire 14-year career with the Royals and is top ten in WAR, games played, runs scored, hits, totals bases, home runs, and walks. He also had an iconic home run in Game 1 of the 2015 World Series against the Mets to tie the game in the ninth.
But stay tuned, this exclusive club may be welcoming a few more members over the next few years as the core of the 2014-15 championship teams become eligible. To be eligible for the Royals Hall of Fame, a candidate must have been active with the ballclub for at least three seasons and accumulated a minimum of 1,500 plate appearances or 300 innings pitched, and be retired for at least three years. So the club is about to get bigger.
